Dr Plot's Lesser Known Leek | Totally Locally Leek Sunday Supplement
Back in July I got involved in taking photographs at this fantastic event put together by the Totally Locally Leek Sunday Supplement team. It was organised to celebrate some of Leek's history with family focused workshops and activities and, having family connections to Leek, I was eager to take part and document the event.
Workshops by Wiff of the Woods leading up to the day created a lino print of the double sunset that takes place just outside Leek. The team also built some puppet giants of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight to parade and re-tell the legendary story which is thought to be based in the Leek area. More wonderful folks ran workshops on the day making cardboard armour, weapons and hats and Winstanley & Nadin created a giant scarf with The Human Loom.
It was a really great day. The workshops were so popular, the atmosphere was buzzing and there was so much to photograph. I also learnt a thing or two, which is always a bonus! I'm really hoping it will be back again next year. There seems to be real positivity and local community support happening in Leek and an annual event that celebrates it's heritage is an awesome idea.
Here are some of my favourite images from the day:-
